The Electric Arts Alliance of Atlanta (EAAA) and Georgia State University are proud to present L'Objet Sonore, an exhibition of visually and aurally striking sound sculpture curated by Adam Overton and presented at the Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. The opening event beginning at 8 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2003 will include an evening of sound and structure with specially designed Sound Objects ranging from kinetic sculpture to installation, some of which react to the environment or the occasional performer, all designed and created by a host of local, national, and international artists from Atlanta, Boston, New York, Quebec, England and France. Following the opening is an evening of discussion with the artists of L'Objet Sonore on Monday, January 20, 2003 at 8:30 PM, hosted by the EAAA as part of their Third Monday Electric Arts series at Eyedrum.

This exhibition is being made possible with support and assistance from the Georgia State University Art Department whose sound art exhibit, Pulse Field, curated by Cathy Byrd, Craig Dongoski and Robert Scott Thompson, will open the same night (Jan. 18, 6-8 PM) in the Georgia State University art galleries. The events surrounding Pulse Field and L'Objet Sonore will extend well into February 2003 and will include, among other things, a residency by the French sound art collective Ouie Dire at GSU, a performance by Ouie Dire at Eyedrum for the EAAA's Third Monday Electric Arts event on February 17, 2003, and a lecture by visiting author and guest curator Douglas Kahn entitled Drugs and Sound on February 19, 2003 in the GSU speaker's auditorium.

Artists exhibiting in L'Objet Sonore include Marshall Avett, Catherine Bechard and Sabin Hudon, Xavier Charles, Xan Deeb, Will Eccleston, Kevin Jacques, John Mallia, Chantelle Minarcine, Douglas Repetto, and Charlie Smith.

Support for L'Objet Sonore and Pulse Field comes from The Cultural Service of the French Embassy, Georgia State University, The Columbia University Computer Music Center, the Council of Arts and Letters of Quebec, West Midland Arts and others.
